Arthur Gea enters the US Open qualifying draw as the top seed against Sumit Nagal on hard courts, backed by his ATP ranking of 85 and recent career-high mark of 82 achieved in early August 2026. The 21-year-old Frenchman holds an 8-4 year-to-date record with strong results building toward the main draw. Nagal, ranked 239 and returning to Grand Slam qualifying for the first time since Wimbledon 2025, sits at a career-low point with a 0-3 record this season after injuries and inconsistent form dropped him from a 2024 peak of 68. The matchup highlights a clear gap in current momentum and ranking points, though Nagal’s prior major experience offers limited counterbalance on the outdoor hard courts.
