Hugo Dellien, the higher-ranked Bolivian at No. 140, faces Tunisian Moez Echargui (No. 225) in US Open qualifying on outdoor hard courts. Dellien holds a stronger overall record and recent clay success in European Challengers, but has struggled on hard surfaces with straight-set losses in Cincinnati and Toronto qualifiers. Echargui enters with mixed hard-court results across the US swing, including a three-set win in Washington qualifying and deep runs in recent Challengers, while showing slightly better second-serve and return metrics in recent months. With no prior head-to-head and both players at age 33, surface-specific form and physical freshness after travel will shape the closely contested matchup.
