Matteo Martineau enters as the clear favorite in this Roehampton 2 first-round matchup on hard courts, holding the No. 286 ranking and No. 5 seed against wildcard Billy Blaydes at No. 1183. Martineau’s greater Challenger experience and stronger recent metrics on second-serve points won and break-point conversion give him the edge in a best-of-three encounter. Blaydes, a 22-year-old Briton, arrives with solid recent hard-court form, including qualifying wins at the venue and a strong 2026 win rate above 70 percent on the surface, plus the motivational lift of a home wildcard. The pair has no prior head-to-head record. Surface conditions and both players’ hard-court records will shape the outcome in this Challenger 50 event.
